Paramore Reveal 'This Is Why' Remix Album

The original This Is Why came out in February, but now Paramore are making headlines in "The News" due to an upcoming remix album! The remix record will feature new versions of songs from their sixth LP, and has a bold cover inspired by a Marlene Dumas painting.

On Monday (October 2), the band announced Re: This Is Why, which will drop on Friday (October 6). While a track listing has not yet been revealed, in an Instagram post revealing the project, they explained, “We’ve long wanted to recognize the connection we have with some of the artists who’ve influenced us as a band and/or who have cited our band as an influence.”

Paramore then explained that the Re: This Is Why re-imagining is “almost” a remix album. “Some of the songs have been remixed sort of classically, while others were reworked or rewritten. It’s incredible to hear all our worlds colliding,” they wrote. The comments section featured a tease of “+1 b-side,” which seemed to suggest the original 10-song album will be augmented by an extra track.

The big announcement came after the group posted a Notes app screenshot last week teasing three dates: something else titled “This Is Why” slated to arrive on September 28, something titled “Why Is This?” due out on October 2 and “Is This Why?” on October 6 (which we now know is the remix album).

As for the cover art of Williams' red-toothed face, Hayley explained on her Instagram account that the photo was actually supposed to be the cover for the original This Is Why. "The original cover for This Is Why was a take on a Marlene Dumas painting. It didn’t get clearance the first time around so we went with a different image," she wrote. "Grateful to her for allowing us to use this, now."

In other Paramore news, the band finished up their recent United States tour in August. The "Misery Business" crew was forced to pull out of their last two dates early after Williams suffered a brutal lung infection. Thankfully, the illness hasn't hindered the band's productivity. In a late August post, Williams first hinted that some fresh tracks might be in the future, writing, “We’ve been off the road for a couple of weeks now…mainly in LA. Thankfully got some down time but we put some work in too. It felt good to get back into a studio. More of that once we get home to Nashville… Zac and Taylor and I also just want to get back to making things. Not only the creative process but the layer(s) of insulation that can come with the creative process.”
