P!nk Named Icon Award Recipient for 2021 Billboard Music Awards

Dick Clark Productions and NBC announced Tuesday P!nk will receive the Icon Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. The three-time BBMA winner will receive the award at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 23.

P!nk, who is 41 years old, is the 10th artist granted the award and the youngest to date. The nine other recipients of the Icon Award are Garth Brooks, Cher, Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson, and Mariah Carey.

The Icon Award "recognizes outstanding artists who have achieved excellence on the Billboard charts and have made an indelible mark on music itself." Over the years, P!nk has received several Billboard accolades. Besides her BBMA wins, three of her studio albums have peaked on the Billboard 200 at No. 1. She's amassed four No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100: "Lady Marmalade" with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Mýa (2001), "So What" (2008), "Raise Your Glass" (2010), and "Just Give Me a Reason" featuring Nate Ruess (2013).

Additionally, P!nk reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts with "Setting the World on Fire," a 2016 collab with Kenny Chesney. And even more, P!nk's Beautiful Trauma World Tour (2018-19) received Billboard's Legend of Live and Tour of the Year awards after it became the highest grossing tour by a woman in the 2010s.

“As a little girl, I always dreamed about being a singer and sharing my love of music with the world,” P!nk said in a statement. “Years later, to receive the Billboard Music Awards Icon Award is hard to fathom! I feel so honored to join the ranks of music idols like Cher, Garth Brooks, Janet Jackson, and Stevie Wonder. It’s a true ‘pinch me’ moment and I feel humbled and blessed.”

As customary for all Icon Award winners, P!nk will perform live at the Billboard Music Awards ceremony. Nick Jonas will be hosting the event. Viewers can tune in to NBC on May 23 at 8:00pm ET to watch the show.

Besides her Icon Awards honor, P!nk will release a new single, "All I Know So Far," on May 7. It will compliment her new concert documentary Pink: All I Know So Far, filmed during her 2019 Beautiful Trauma World Tour, along with a live album All I Know So Far: Setlist. Both the documentary and album will be released May 21.
