Time's list of 2019’s “100 Most Influential People” has been unveiled and Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande are just a few of the individuals from the music world that have been included. The list is organized into “Titans,” “Icons,” “Leaders,” “Artists,” and “Pioneers,” showcasing important figures in music, entertainment, politics, sports, business, and more.
Along with each selection, there is a small note from another prominent individual discussing the influence of the selected important figure.
Shawn Mendes, opener of Swift’s 1989 World Tour, wrote, “Taylor makes the job of creating music for millions of people look easy. It all comes from her — her belief in magic and love, and her ability to be as honest and raw as possible. She’s the master of putting the perfect amount of thought into not overthinking, and that’s why her music connects so well.”
Celine Dion praised Lady Gaga for being an inventive artist and constantly empowering her fans. Dion said, "Yes, she’s an amazing musician, composer, performer and, as we saw in A Star Is Born, an incredible actress, but her legacy reaches well beyond show business. She will continue to inspire love and freedom around the world, for generations to come."
Singer-songwriter Troye Sivan wrote about Ariana Grande, noting the singer's authenticity in everything she does. "Wearing her heart on her sleeve and in her work, she oozes those emotions in abundance. Armed with a full comprehension of how the world consumes music today, she is an industry game changer."
Other figures named on the list include "Artists" Khalid, BTS, Brie Larson, Regina King, and Dwyane Johnson, "Leaders" Nancy Pelosi, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Pope Francis, "Titans" Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Mark Zuckerberg, and Alex Morgan, "Icons" Michelle Obama and Spike Lee, and "Pioneers" Sandra Oh and Chrissy Teigen.
