Unfortunately I didn't get enough responses to go ahead with my book project, at least for now. My goal was to help indie and small label artists get traction by having industry people recommending some of their songs while also helping the reviewers' stations/shows generate relationships with those indie and small label artists and pick up new listeners.
Since I didn't get enough reviewers to offer a real value to readers, I decided to change the direction of this column to at least accomplish some of those goals. I will be featuring one indie or small label artist each month. This month that artist is Hegarty. Listen to the songs below, and if you like some of their music, add it, let me know by filling out a short 5-question survey at https://s.surveyplanet.com/cn5gns3x, and as a collective, let's all feature songs by Hegarty in August and see if we can help them gain some traction.
In the short survey I will ask for comments (optional). I may use some of them in next month's column/blog (you and your station/show will get credited). Remember, however, that my goal is recommending, not reviewing.
Before getting to their music, here is a little about the band. The band is from Liverpool, U.K. and was formed in 2014. Peter Stafford aka Waka Staffo (drums), Christopher McKeown (bass), and David Hegarty (vocals, rhythm) were the founding members. They are now a five member band having added Ian Cousins (lead guitar) and Paul Cousins (guitar). They released their first album Selling Your Soul to Sanity in 2017 and their second album “Tranquility of the Mind” in late 2023. The band is currently hard at work on their third album.
