Troye Sivan Covers Billie Eilish's 'What Was I Made For?'

Troye Sivan offered up his own take of the hit Barbie movie song "What Was I Made For?", originally sung by Billie Eilish.

Sivan covered the song during his visit to BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. He sang the ballad with the same slow tempo and emotion as Eilish. The only difference was the bubblier instrumentals behind him. Soft, synthy keyboard sounds and echoey guitar bits accompanied his vocals.

Besides "What Was I Made For?" Sivan also used the opportunity in the Live Lounge to do a sensual, more laidback take on his summer single “Rush.” That song debuted at #77 atop the Billboard Hot 100: becoming Sivan's seventh career Hot 100 hit. It also hit #1 on the Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs and Dance/Electronic Song Sales.

You'll be seeing more of Sivan in the news soon. The Australian artist's next album, Something to Give Each Other, is due October 13. He drummed up excitement for the release in July with “Rush,” and has since shared remixes of the track with Big Freedia, PinkPantheress, and more. “Got Me Started” arrived in September as the LP’s second single. Sivan's last full-length album was 2018's Bloom, which he followed with the EP In a Dream in 2020.
