Beyoncé's new visual album Black Is King is set to be released on Disney+ tonight.
The 85-minute visual album, which is inspired by the 2019 The Lion King soundtrack The Gift, will bring the soundtrack to life through songs, skits, and interpretive dance, with cameras traveling to New York, Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, London, and Belgium.
Beyoncé explained in an Instagram post, “With this visual album, I wanted to present elements of Black history and African tradition, with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy.”
Ahead of the release, Beyoncé shared a new trailer for the project on Instagram. Disney+'s official trailer for the project was released earlier in July.
Black Is King will be available to stream on Disney+ on Friday, July 31 at midnight PT/3am ET.
