Today (July 9), NPR uploaded a new Tiny Desk Concert episode featuring alternative group Wet Leg. Although they left out their new hit "catch these fists," the band performed four other songs from their upcoming sophomore LP, Moisturizer.
The band opened with one of the LP’s preview tracks, the sultry “CPR,” during which singer Rhian Teasdale sang in a deadpan, "is it love or suicide" and used a red phone as a prop. After that, Teasdale strapped on a pink electric guitar and led the band into “Mangetout”: an as-of-yet-unreleased track from the album due Friday (July 11), according to Billboard. “Nice try, get out the way/ You’re in our way, you bottom feeder,” she sang over the mid-tempo rock banger.

Next came the singles “Davina McCall” and “11:21,” which Teasdale claimed they’d never played live for anyone outside of their rehearsal space. The latter was an emotional ballad that found the singer staring down the center of the camera lens as guitarist/keyboardist Hester Chambers and rhythm guitarist Josh Mobaraki added spooky synth notes over the track’s beat.
This performance was technically Wet Leg's second time playing for NPR. In 2021, they did a virtual “home” concert in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, the group had not even released their debut self-titled album yet.
Wet Leg is currently touring across Europe, with their next show happening July 11 in Glasgow. After that leg, the group will then launch a North American tour in support of Moisturizer. It starts September 1 with a concert at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. After an October 17 performance at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, the group will then embark on a second European tour. You can find all show dates and tickets on the band's official website.
