Veteran composer Alan Menken won a Daytime Emmy Award over the weekend, making him the 16th person to achieve EGOT status.
With 11 Grammys, 8 Oscars, and 1 Tony Award for his contributions to Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Newsies, and more, Menken was previously just missing an Emmy to become an EGOT.
Now, with the addition of Outstanding Original Song in a Children’s, Young Adult, or Animated Program for “Waiting in the Wings” from Disney Channel's Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, Menken is the 16th EGOT winner to date and the first since 2018.
