Bad Bunny Announced as 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show Performer

In a historic announcement, the NFL revealed Sunday (September 28) that Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny will be the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show performer. The King of Latin Trap will take the stage at Santa Clara's Levis Stadium on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

The news arrived during this week's Sunday Night Football game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys. The NFL also shared an official announcement video.

While he will not be the first Latin American artist to headline the show (Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias and others have come before him), Bad Bunny will be the first solo male Latin artist to headline the event. Apple Music will continue to be the presenting sponsor for the show.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny said in a statement to Billboard. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

In a statement to Variety, Roc Nation founder Jay-Z added, “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring.” According to Pitchfork, his company has partnered with the NFL in booking the Super Bowl halftime show since 2019.

Bad Bunny shared his latest album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, back in January. Since then, he's made his third appearance as Saturday Night Live’s musical guest and staged a 30-show concert residency in San Juan. His upcoming world tour in support of Debí Tirar Más Fotos kicks off in November and is set to run through July 2026.

Bad Bunny's decision to play the Super Bowl comes during an interesting point in his career. There are no currently no United States concert dates planned for his Debí Tirar Más Fotos tour. According to NPR, Bad Bunny chose to skip the 50 states due to intensifying ICE raids (the raids could target concert-goers, many of whom are Latino, outside concert venues) and to focus on Puerto Rico - as his residency in San Juan this summer brought a significant economic boost to the island. That means Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show will be his only stateside performance for the forseeable future.

“[Estuve] pensando en estos días, y luego de hablarlo con mi equipo, creo que haré una sola fecha en Estados Unidos,” Bad Bunny wrote in an X post prior to the announcement. Translated, it reads: “I've been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I'll do just one date in the United States.”

This past February, in New Orleans, Kendrick Lamar played the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, becoming the first rapper to headline the event as a solo artist. Before that, Usher took the stage in 2024.
