Billie Eilish & Finneas Invited to Join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

Sibling music duo Billie Eilish and Finneas have achieved an amazing feat together: they've both been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for their work on the James Bond song "No Time to Die."

The pair are part of a list of 397 individuals invited to join the Academy in 2022. All invitees are selected on the basis that they have made a significant contribution to cinema. Hollywood stars on the list include Ariana DuBose, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Troy Kotsur. Other musicians in the group include composers Amie Doherty, Lili Hadyn, Leo Heiblum, Natalie Holt, Nathan Johnson, Jacobo Lieberman, Ariel Rose Marx, and Hesham Nazih. The full list of actors, directors, musicians, producers, editors, and other invitees are available to view here.

Eilish and Finneas won a Best Original Song Oscar at this year's Academy Awards for their work on “No Time to Die,” the theme for the James Bond film of the same name. Additional orchestrational work was done by Hans Zimmer. The song managed to beat out many notable contenders, such as Beyoncé’s "Be Alive" from King Richard and Reba McEntire's "Somehow You Do" from the film Four Good Days. With the win, Eilish became the youngest person to win the “triple crown” of film music: an Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe for “No Time To Die.”

Eilish and Finneas released "No Time to Die" in early 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the movie’s release until October 2021. They eventually performed “No Time to Die” at the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony in March.

It seems like Eilish and Finneas will continue to make tracks for movies together. The pair recently wrote the song “Nobody Like U” for Disney’s Turning Red. In the meantime, Eilish is still on her Happier Than Ever world tour. Last month, she launched her London Climate Seminar, called Overheated.
