Following their debut performance of "Butter" at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, K-pop septet BTS sang and danced to their new single on the May 25 episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Released last Friday (May 21), "Butter" is BTS's second English-language single. The first was "Dynamite," which broke all kinds of music records. It was the first song from a South Korean group to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and holds the Guiness World Record for a music video with the "most simultaneous views on YouTube Premieres."
According to YouTube data, the "Butter" video set a new all-time 24-hour record of 108.2 million views, breaking the "Dynamite" record of 101.1 million views. With more than 20.9 million global streams, "Butter" also racked-up the largest single-day streams for a song in Spotify's history.
For their Colbert performance, BTS sang and danced to "Butter" in a grand ballroom complete with chandeliers, art deco design, and spiffy suits to boot. The group also appeared in a comedy sketch where they taught viewers an assortment of cute, cool, and funny hand gestures for fans to copy.
