Carly Rae Jepsen Teases New Music with Cryptic Map & 'Western Wind’ Billboard

Carly Rae Jepsen is teasing the release of new music: she recently posted a cryptic map to social media and a billboard with the title "Western Wind" was spotted by fans.

On April 4, Jepsen posted a map of California that featured lines like “Coming in like a western wind,” “Reminding me love that it’s all connected,” “First bloom, you know it’s spring”, “Do you feel home in all directions?” and “A celebration, a jubilation.” Fans suspect these could be lyrics to a new song.

In the caption, Jepsen wrote an “x marks the spot” with a cross visible on the map at Exit 130.

Jepsen followed up the map post by updating the profile pictures across her social media accounts, and sharing the picture with the caption “First bloom…” She also reposted the billboard that fans spotted, which teases something called "Western Wind" alongside a phone number.

Those who call the phone number can hear a pre-recorded message from Jepsen. “Hello. You’ve reached the Carly Rae Jepsen hotline. Text me here to stay in the loop on all the kinds of things: new music, tour, secrets that I haven’t even come up with yet. News..no, wait, there will be no news. Sorry. But there will be music for sure,” she says.

Carly Rae Jepsen's last album was 2020's Dedicated Side B. She also released the standalone single "Me And The Boys In The Band" later that year. If "Western Wind" is a studio album, it would be her sixth. In 2020, Jespen did confirm on the Switched On Pop podcast she’d made an “entire quarantine album” during lockdown. “It is very different,” she promised.

Coming up later this month, Jepsen is set to play Coachella 2022 alongside headliners Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia.
