Center Stage on Live365 this week is Power Me Up Radio Talk 24/7 - "The Station with Heart." We spoke with station manager Raven Blair Glover about their history with radio, their station's programming, and we got some music recommendations. Check out the interview below!
What made you get started in radio?
I did radio on CNN/CBS and other stations, including broadcasting on Live365, but then I started doing podcasting. But, I really missed the live radio experience and decided it's time not only for me to go back to radio, but I would make it my mission to bring my podcast hosts to the radio audience so they too could have that live radio experience.
What brought you to Live365?
I was on it before it shut down and returned once I heard that now they could distribute my station on iHeartRadio and I'd have a license to play copyrighted music. With those features, I knew it was for me and my podcast/TV hosts I had on my podcast network.
What's your favorite part about running your own radio station?
Designing a 24/7 positive programming station on my terms.
Tell us about your station's programming. What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
Launched on February 24th, Power Me Up Radio is focused on lifting up the world from the dark cloud that seems to be lingering over us during these difficult times. Programming includes a variety of talk topics - life, business, finance, self-growth, health, law of attraction, and health - as well as old school positive, upbeat music sprinkled in with some encouraging popular music of today.
The station is committed to bringing our listeners inspiring and uplifting interviews throughout the day as well as educational conversations with top business icons like Jack Canfield, Lisa Sasevich, and Les Brown. On occasion you'll also hear heart-to-heart conversations with celebrities like Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr., Lindsay Wagner aka The Bionic Woman, and award-winning talk show host Montel Williams, among others.
As for special programming coming up, on March 8th at every hour, we will feature 3-5 minute segments honoring Women's History Month.
Name one artist that you play on your station that is underrated in your opinion.
What's your favorite music memory/moment?
Please list your top 5 or 10 songs, with a brief reason why each song made your list.
"Behind the Mask" - Michael Jackson
My husband was the mixing producer on the song.
"Roar" - Katy Perry
The song inspires strength, courage, and hope.
"Smile" - Kirk Franklin
This song helps us to appreciate being blessed to be here another day and reminds us that each day we have a new start.
"Happy" - Pharrell Williams
This one makes people smile and want to dance; it just brings positive vibes to you instantly.
"Rise Up" - Andra Day
This track inspires hope, so instead of feeling like you want to give up, "rise up."
