We could tell from the recent releases of "Houdini" and "Training Season" that Dua Lipa had an album ready to go. Now, that fact has been confirmed: the pop star has formally announced her next album, titled Radical Optimism.

The record will arrive May 3 – you can pre-order vinyl editions here. Cover art has also been shared; it shows Lipa swimming in the ocean while a shark fin looms nearby. Besides “Houdini” and “Training Season,” Radical Optimism features nine additional tracks.
“A couple years ago, a friend introduced me to the term Radical Optimism,” Lipa said in a press release. “It’s a concept that resonated with me, and I became more curious as I started to play with it and weave it into my life. It struck me—the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm. At the same time, I found myself looking through the music history of psychedelia, trip hop, and Britpop. It has always felt so confidently optimistic to me, and that honesty and attitude is a feeling I took into my recording sessions.”
Since 2020’s Future Nostalgia, Dua Lipa has released a remix companion helmed by Madonna and was named an Honorary Ambassador of Kosovo, Albania, in 2022. She recently appeared in the films Argylle and Barbie – which also prominently featured her song “Dance the Night.” So far this year, she's set to headline Glastonbury 2024.
