Foo Fighters to Play First Concert Back at Madison Square Garden Since Start of Pandemic

Madison Square Garden is ready to rock again. Foo Fighters will play the first MSG show to a full-capacity crowd since the pandemic halted all concerts and live performances last year.

The concert is scheduled for Father’s Day (Sunday, June 20), and all attendees must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. No masks or social distancing are required.

The last MSG show without coronavirus-related restrictions was a March 10, 2020 celebration of the Allman Brothers Band. The Foo Fighters concert is just one of many full-capacity live events around Manhattan to be announced. Bruce Springsteen revealed Monday (June 7) his Broadway show would come back for a limited run starting June 26. NBA playoff games are happening at the Garden again, with seperate sections for vaccinated and unvaccinated fans.

Other concerts booked at MSG include The Eagles in August, Banda MS and Dan + Shay in September, Harry Styles in October, and Billy Joel in November. Concerts will return to Barclays Center in Brooklyn in September with Marc Anthony.

“The Garden is ready to rock,” MSG Entertainment’s James Dolan said in a statement. “We’ve been waiting for this moment for 15 months and are excited to finally welcome a packed house of roaring, fully-vaccinated Foo Fighters fans to Madison Square Garden.”

Dave Grohl added, “We’ve been waiting for this day for over a year. And Madison Square Garden is going to feel that HARD. New York, get ready for a long ass night of screaming our heads off together to 26 years of Foos.”

As Grohl explained, Foo Fighters are celebrating their 26th anniversary this year after 25th anniversary plans got canceled due to COVID-19. The band will play a short run of North American shows this summer - including stops at Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo - to mark the occassion. The band will also be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on October 30.

Tickets to the Foo Fighters Madison Square Garden concert will go on sale on Friday at 10am ET. You can view a variety of pre-sale options and purchase tickets here.
