Giveon Shares New Song for David O. Russell Movie 'Amsterdam'

Rising R&B star Giveon is back with a new song called “Time.” The song, which was co-written alongside Drake and Daniel Pemberton, appears on the soundtrack for the upcoming David O. Russell film Amsterdam, which stars Christian Bale, John David Washington, Margo Robbie, Taylor Swift, and more.

Pemberton also composed the score for the film. He is credited as a producer on "Time" alongside Jahaan Sweet. While the new song is being shared now, the full soundtrack for Amsterdam won't be out until October 7: the same day the film is released in theaters.

According to Genius, news about "Time" was first reported on September 16, 2022, as the end-credit theme for Amsterdam. It was revealed Pemberton and producer Matthew Budman first reached out to Drake, who then contacted Giveon to perform on the song. The elegant R&B ballad features an orchestra of flutes, keys, and strings. "I never knew / For only now / Can I truly see / How much that time with you / That time shaped me," Giveon croons in the song's second verse.

Giveon released his debut album, Give or Take, in June. He and Drake previously collaborated on the song “Chicago Freestyle.” Speaking of collaborations, Giveon is known for his appearance on Justin Bieber's track "Peaches," which was released last year as part of Bieber's album, Justice.
