Hans Zimmer has announced an upcoming live double album called Hans Zimmer LIVE. Two hours worth of Zimmer compositions are set to appear on the record, and ahead of its March 3 release, a reimagined version of “The Last Samurai Suite” has been shared.
The project was recorded during Zimmer's 2022 European concert tour over the span of 10 nights with producer Stephen Lipson. Featuring Zimmer’s 20-piece band “The Disruptive Collective” and the Odessa Opera Orchestra and Choir, the compilation features highlights from the soundtracks to films like The Lion King, The Dark Knight, X Men: Dark Phoenix, Dunkirk, Gladiator, Inception, Interstellar, The Last Samurai, Man of Steel, No Time to Die, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Wonder Woman 1984.
“I simply wanted to produce the best album,” Zimmer said in a press release. “I wanted to create an opportunity for the music to breathe a little differently, in its own context. For this adventure, I am thrilled to have been joined by the greatest possible team of collaborators.”
You can pre-order Hans Zimmer LIVE here. Additionally, the composer is going on a tour across Europe in 2023. Tickets can be found on Ticketmaster.
