Latin Grammy Awards Set for 'Reimagined Telecast' from Miami

The Latin Recording Academy has announced that the 21st Annual Latin Grammy Awards will take place both live and virtually from Miami, and the event will air on Univision on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 8pm ET.

With the theme of “Music Makes Us Human,” the “reimagined telecast” will feature local performances as well as virtually streamed performances from multiple cities around the world. Prior to the event, there will be a preshow entitled "Noche de Estrellas" that will begin at 7pm ET.

“This year’s show is a result of great music, carefully curated by almost 4,000 members, skilled staff and everyone’s commitment to the Latin Grammy Awards’ process,” said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President and CEO of the Latin Recording Academy. “The evening will honor musical excellence and the power of music — an art form that allows us to show solidarity, compassion and hope, transcending language, cultural barriers and the current global challenges. We are proud to honor the work of artists who have continued to bring us excellence through their craft and joy in times of despair.”

Most of the awards will be given out during the virtual Latin Grammy Premiere ceremony, which will occur before the event.

The Latin Recording Academy, Univision, and their respective production teams will adhere strictly to safety guidelines and protocols, but they will remain open to hosting a live audience telecast should the conditions in Miami with COVID-19 improve.

Additional details about the event are to be announced at a later date.
