Mac DeMarco is the latest artist to offer his rendition of the popular holiday song "I'll Be Home for Christmas." It is the newest installment of his annual Christmas song series, and is accompanied by an adorable new music video.
In 2019, DeMarco shared a cover of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and last year, he uploaded a synth-heavy version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." Similar to last year's holiday music video, the visual for "I'll Be Home for Christmas" features an inflatable Christmas decoration. It follows a blow-up Christmas tree (played by Rhianne McNally) across a city as it looks for a proper place to call home.
“I Hope your holiday season is full of love and tree,” DeMarco wrote in the video's description. The YouTube video is jokingly tagged with the location "Santa's Workshop, North Pole, NY."
“I’ll Be Home for Christmas” was written by Kim Gannon and composer Walter Kent and first released by Bing Crosby in 1943. Elvis Presley, Josh Groban, and Kelly Clarkson are among those that have recorded covers.
Earlier this month, DeMarco collaborated with the experimental pop artist Jean Dawson for a new song called “MENTHOL*.” DeMarco released his last album, Here Comes the Cowboy, back in 2019.
