Marty Stuart has confirmed that he has a new digital album on the way, Songs I Sing in the Dark, which will collect 20 acoustic songs recorded at the musician’s former home outside of Nashville.
Each month, Stuart will unveil a track from the album alongside a personal statement about the song’s importance, both personally and in the context of country music. The first installment is Stuart’s version of “Ready for the Times to Get Better.”
“Ready for the Times to Get Better” was written by Allen Reynolds and originally performed by Crystal Gayle. Just backed by a guitar, Stuart strips the song down in his version. He sings the timely lyrics, “It’s been a too long time, with no peace of mind, and I’m ready for the times to get better.”
