After dropping the song “Whenever,” in April, Megan Thee Stallion has released her second solo single of 2025.
The new track is called "Lover Girl" and features a prominent sample of the 1996 R&B hit “Kissin’ You,” by girl group Total. It was produced by Jacobdior, and is about Megan's adoration for a man who treats her with respect. "Most n– want attention, my n– give me his / He know he a star, but he my biggest fan," she raps over the beat.

It's not yet clear if "Lover Girl" and "Whenever" will be part of a greater studio album from Megan Thee Stallion. The Houston artist shared her last studio album, Megan, in 2024 - following it up with the deluxe expansion, Act II, a few months later.
That same year, she embarked on the Hot Girl Summer Tour, served as the host of the MTV VMAs, and also had a documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, released about her rise as a rapper.
In January, Megan was granted a restraining order against Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence after being found guilty of shooting her. Lanez was stabbed in prison in May, prompting Megan Thee Stallion to share a new statement calling out further online harassment she had subsequently received.
