Hip-hop goddess M.I.A. has revealed the artwork and release date for her upcoming album MATA. Ahead of the record's October release, she has released a new single titled “Beep,” and it comes with a brand new lyric video.
The energy-infused and braggadocious “Beep” has M.I.A. singing about her resilience and ambition. "There's no limit, I'm tryna feel it / Every time I see you, well, I'm gonna break through it" she sings on the song's punchy post-chorus. In the lyric video, words appear in front of a psychedelic multicolored background.
The new song follows M.I.A.’s recent singles “Popular” and “The One.” Last year, she issued the song “Babylon,” which coincided with the auction of her 2010 Vicki Leekx mixtape as an NFT.
MATA will mark M.I.A.’s first album since 2016’s AIM. She announced the new record back in May. Today (September 30), she tweeted MATA will be officially released October 14. M.I.A. has also tweeted that she’ll share the project's tracklist soon. At the time of writing, fans are still waiting on the info.
