Paramore Drummer Zac Farro Announces Debut Solo Album

Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams released her debut solo album back in 2020. Now, it's time for the band's drummer, Zac Farro, to receive his own solo album treatment.

Farro's new project is titled Operator and is slated for release on July 18. Leading the album is the chill song “My My.” It has a country-folk and 70's California sound differing from the usual pop-rock tint both his side-projects - Halfnoise and Paramore - ascertain.

“‘My My’ is a personal song about witnessing a loved one try to let go of someone they care for deeply,” Farro said in a press statement acquired by Rolling Stone. “That kind of silent pain. This song holds a lot of weight and captures those moments of reflection and processing that run throughout the album.”

After years of recording music under the moniker Halfnoise, Farro decided to craft an album under his own name after exploring “deeply personal” subjects in a new batch of songs - such as family issues, anxieties, and communication breakdowns. Operator will have nine tracks, all of which were written by Farro. Joining him on the record are friends and Nashville musicians Josh Gilligan and Chancey Pierce.

Farro created the band Halfnoise days after he originally departed Paramore in 2010. They have gone on to release five LPs since then, the most recent being 2023's City Talk. Although Farro rejoined Paramore as a permanent member in 2016, Halfnoise is still active. As for Paramore, their sixth album, This Is Why, dropped in 2023.
