Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation Pledges $15 Million to Climate Justice Organizations

Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation has pledged to donate $15 million to a multitude of climate justice organizations in the United States and the Caribbean.

Rihanna is donating in partnership with #StartSmall, the philanthropic initiative of Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. The organizations receiving funds include the Climate Justice Alliance, the Movement for Black Lives, the Indigenous Environmental Network, the Black Feminist Fund, the Caribbean Youth Environment Network, and more. In total, her foundation is donating to 18 different charities.

“Climate disasters, which are growing in frequency and intensity, do not impact all communities equally, with communities of color and island nations facing the brunt of climate change,” Rihanna told The Associated Press in a statement.

“These grants support entities focused on and led by women, youth, Black, Indigenous, people of color and LGBTQIA+ communities,” a statement reads on the Clara Lionel Foundation’s website. “We invite others to join us in elevating, funding and supporting these groups and others who are on the frontlines of the climate justice movement.”

Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation, named after her grandparents, was founded in 2012. It funds "groundbreaking education and emergency preparedness and response programs around the world." You can find the full list of all the organizations Rihanna's foundation is donating to here.
