Smashing Pumpkins to Celebrate 30th Anniversary of Debut 'Gish' with Livestream & Merch

The Smashing Pumpkins will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1991 debut album Gish with a livestream, events, and special merchandise.

Lead vocalist Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin will host the two-hour livestream on Saturday, May 29. The duo will participate in a live vinyl listening party, a Q&A, and “a very special world exclusive preview of unreleased music.” A portion of the proceeds will benefit the PAWS no-kill animal shelter in Chicago.

Tickets to the livestream will be available to purchase tomorrow (May 28) at 12pm ET on the Smashing Pumpkins website. While it's unclear where on the internet the livestream will be held, it will begin at 8pm ET/7pm CT/5pm PT.

Additionally, Corgan and Chloe Mendel’s plant-based tea shop, Madame ZuZu’s in Highland Park, Illinois, will also host Gish-related events throughout the weekend. There will be limited-edition Gish merchandise, art prints, and posters for sale, as well as a private collection of Gish memorabilia on display. For those who can't make it to the tea shop, the official Smashing Pumpkins webstore will also offer the limited-edition merchandise tomorrow.

Last but not least, the band has launched a special Gish 30th anniversary site where fans can share any Gish memories they may have. There is also a digital scavenger hunt across the band’s social media where they will be posting Gish trivia questions and clues online. One lucky winner will receive a special Gish merch collection.

Besides spreading Gish 30th anniversary cheer, the Smashing Pumpkins have been busy. They just released their 11th album Cyr in 2020, and will headline Riot Fest in Chicago in September.
