To celebrate the theatrical release of her new mockumentary film The Nowhere Inn, St. Vincent gave a kooky performance of the movie soundtrack's title track on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Donning a feathered suit, St. Vincent was supported by bandmates all wearing Annie Clark wigs. She added other touches of wacky showmanship, like kicking over the crash cymbal at the end of the song and singing the final line away from the microphone. She even gave a smug look while taking a bow - meant to match her movie's theme of celebrity narcissism.
After premiering at Sundance and running the festival circuit, Clark, Carrie Brownstein, and director Bill Penz’s The Nowhere Inn was released theatrically last week. It has St. Vincent playing a satirical version of herself, and as the official synopsis states, "notions of reality, identity, and authenticity grow increasingly distorted and bizarre."
St. Vincent, aka Annie Clark, has had a busy year. She released her sixth studio album Daddy's Home in May and has been on the lineup of various music festivals this year. Last month, Clark released a video for the title track to Daddy’s Home. Additionally, Clark and Brownstein recently shared a video for the title track of The Nowhere Inn.
Daddy's Home is available on streaming services and to buy. The Nowhere Inn is now in select theaters and available to watch at home on certain streaming platforms. You can find more information and book tickets on the film's official website.
