The Go-Go’s Documentary to Air on Showtime

Over the weekend, Showtime announced that they had acquired U.S. rights to The Go-Go’s, the Alison Ellwood-directed documentary about multi-platinum-selling all-female band the Go-Go’s.

Coming from the Los Angeles punk scene and consisting of Charlotte Caffey (lead guitar, keyboards, and vocals), Belinda Carlisle (lead vocals), Gina Schock (drums), Kathy Valentine (bass and vocals) and Jane Wiedlin (guitar and vocals), the Go-Go’s topped the charts in the 80s by playing their own instruments and writing their own music.

With “full access” to the band, the film will include interviews and archival footage that tells the story of their rise to fame, triumphs, and struggles throughout their career.

The documentary is set to premiere on Showtime later this year.
