On Christmas (December 25), New Zealand band Unknown Mortal Orchestra shared a brand new song as part of their annual "SB" series. This year, the Ruban Nielson-helmed group shared a piece called “SB-10.”
The nearly 45-minute song features contributions from Ruban’s brother, Kody, on drums, as well as Jake Portrait on bass. From soft rock, indie, and EDM, to experimental, the track has a little bit of everything within its long runtime.
Unknown Mortal Orchestra have been releasing their yearly ambient or instrumental track since 2013, always sharing the new music around Christmastime. They dropped “SB-09” last year, which has been described by Uproxx as a "tame borderline lo-fi instrumental."
UMO have announced a 2023 tour in support of a forthcoming double album. While details about the project are few, they shared the first taste of the record in October – a tack called “I Killed Captain Cook.”
