Arctic Monkeys Share Details About New Studio Album 'The Car'

After announcing they were working on a new record back in 2021, Arctic Monkeys are officially back. Their next album will be called The Car and it arrives October 21. It's the band's seventh studio album and follow-up to 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

The new LP was written by Alex Turner and, once again, produced by James Ford. The tracklist includes an opening song titled “There’d Better Be a Mirrorball,” a new tune called “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am,” (which the band premiered yesterday in Zurich) and eight more tracks. The new record was recorded at Butley Priory in Suffolk, RAK Studios in London, and La Frette in Paris.

Additionally, the band has shared the cover photo for the LP: a single automobile at the top of a lonely parking garage. (The picture was taken by Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helder.) The alt-rock group has also shared a pre-order link for the album. You can reserve your copy here.

Since Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, Arctic Monkeys have released the B-side “Anyways,” performed for Austin City Limits, and dropped a live album for charity, recorded at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Arctic Monkeys are currently playing a host of previously announced festival dates around the world.
