Best Podcast Directories: Submit & Promote Your Show

Submitting your podcast to a variety of directories should be one of your top priorities after creating and publishing a few episodes. Podcast directories are the main way that your podcast becomes discoverable and is largely how you promote your show. Of course, social media and your website are also vital to promoting your show, but directories are largely what listeners rely on to find podcasts, especially when they are looking for podcasts about specific topics. So, take a look at the list of directories that we compiled below to get started with submitting.

Directories to Submit Your Podcast to:

  • Apple Podcasts (aka iTunes)
    • If you decide to submit to only one directory, this is the one to submit to. Many other directories pull from Apple Podcasts, so this one should be your top priority.

This is by no means a complete list as there are tons of directories, so some Google searches will provide a lot more options that you can submit to. In fact, there are many specified directories, so if your podcast fits into some different categories, look for directories that are aimed at those categories.

As you can see, there are tons of directories out there and many of them actually pull from Apple Podcasts (iTunes), so it should be your top priority to at least submit your podcast to Apple Podcasts. Submitting to Google Play Music, Spotify, TuneIn, and Stitcher should also be high priority directories for you. The more directories that your podcast is featured in, the more discoverable it is and the more likely it is that you will gain listeners. So, we suggest that you submit to the high priority directories first and as quickly as possible. Then, you can submit to other directories within this list as well as specialty directories that your podcast may fit into over time to break down the work. Obviously, submitting your podcast is time consuming, so set a goal for yourself to submit to 2 new directories every week, for example. If you set a small, attainable goal such as this, pretty soon your podcast will be on tons of directories, making it that much more discoverable. Happy podcasting!
