boygenius Release 'The Film' Directed by Kristen Stewart

boygenius have released their first full-length LP, The Record. With it, they've also released another ironically-titled piece of media called The Film. It's a visual counterpart to the album directed by Spencer and Twilight actress Kristen Stewart.

The Film features three distinct but interconnected visuals for the songs “$20,” “Emily I’m Sorry,” and “True Blue.” The first third focuses on Julien Baker as she runs around a rural home and works on a junky old car. The “Emily I’m Sorry” portion finds Phoebe Bridgers standing in a monster truck arena as the jacked-up vehicles fly over dirt mounds. In the final segment, Lucy Dacus, alongside her bandmates, paint the walls of her house blue and fill it with all-blue furniture.

Phoebe Bridgers, Julian Baker, and Lucy Dacus announced The Record in January and finally dropped it in March. It's been released nearly five years after the band's first EP as Bridgers, Baker, and Dacus all took time to work on their own solo projects (the albums Punisher, Little Oblivions, and Home Video respectively). The supergroup shared their first official music video for the single "Not Strong Enough" on March 1.

As for touring, boygenius will hit the road after making an appearance at Coachella. They announced several more North American tour dates in the days before The Record’s arrival.
