If you are pondering whether you should start a podcast or not, look no further! Below are a list of questions that will take you through the decision.
Do I have a specific topic in mind?
Am I passionate?
Am I knowledgeable?
Do I want to learn more about the topic?
Do I have the time to create a podcast?
Am I ready to commit to online content creation?
Do I like the podcast medium?
Do I have an understanding of podcasting or am I prepared to learn about it?
Am I tech savvy?
Do I have equipment that I can use and am I willing to invest money into my podcast?
Do I feel that I’d be an entertaining host?
Do I have an understanding of online marketing or am I prepared to learn about it?
Do I take feedback well?
Am I prepared to persevere with my podcast no matter what I face?
If the answer is yes to all of these questions, then there is no doubt that you are ready to start a podcast and that you should! If you answered yes to some and no to others, take a second to consider why you said no to those questions and how that would impact your podcast if you started it. If you answered yes to the majority of the questions, you can likely move forward with your podcast. However, if you answered no to the majority of the questions, you should reconsider whether the podcast medium, topic, or even online content creation is right for you. Starting a podcast is not right for everyone, so it’s important to move through the decision carefully.
Starting a podcast is all about passion, expertise, learning, and commitment, so it is important that you would describe yourself with these qualities.
