Yesterday (March 22), it was announced Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel will star in David Lowery’s upcoming A24 film. Mother Mary will follow a fictional musician (Hathaway) and her relationship with a famous fashion designer (Coel). Now, it's been revealed pop songwriting pair Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff will also contribute to the movie.
The duo will be writing their own songs for the flick. Additionally, the pop melodrama will have an original score composed by Daniel Hart. It won't be the first time Charli XCX has created original music for A24. Her sultry song "Hot Girl," which she wrote with The 1975’s George Daniel, appeared in last year’s A24 murder mystery Bodies Bodies Bodies.
A24 has had a penchant for hiring established musicians in their upcoming projects lately. Jane Schoenbrun’s horror film I Saw the TV Glow features Phoebe Bridgers, Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan, and Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, the Eggers Brothers’ The Front Room stars Brandy, and Kid Cudi appeared in the horror movie X. The production company is also releasing a 4K restoration of Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense later this year.
In other Charli XCX news, the pop starlet recently remixed Caroline Polachek's "Welcome To My Island" alongside George Daniel. Her latest album Crash was released in early 2022. As for Jack Antonoff, the master musician recently took home his second consecutive Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, award at the 2023 Grammys. “A&W,” his latest collaboration with Lana Del Rey, dropped on Valentine’s Day.
