Finally: after weeks of online and physical clues, Fall Out Boy have properly announced their eighth studio album.
The new LP will be titled So Much (for) Stardust. It's the band's follow-up to their record Mania, which was released back in 2018. Fall Out Boy have also shared the cover of their upcoming album, which shows a painting of a dog mid-bark while bubbles surround it. The text on the cover is dusted over with glitter.
So Much (for) Stardust will be out March 24 via Fueled by Ramen and Elektra (pre-order it here). The new album was produced by Neal Avron, who worked with Fall Out Boy on 2005’s From Under the Cork Tree, 2007’s Infinity on High, and 2008’s Folie à Deux. “Neal not only taught us how to make records, but has a unique capacity to really take time and focus on a record,” singer Patrick Stump said in a statement. “We thought it was a no-brainer to work with him again, on a record where that was very important to us, and he was gracious enough to agree to work with us.”
To give fans a taste of the record, Fall Out Boy have dropped a track and music video called "Love From the Other Side." The intense rock bop is full of heavy guitar riffs, and has Stump singing, "Sending my love from the other side of the apocalypse / And I just about snapped / Don’t look back /
Every lover’s got a little dagger in their hand." The visual features the band in a storybook setting – escaping capture from an evil mayor, roasting marshmallows together, and even sailing to "Emo Island."
In the time since Mania, Fall Out Boy have gone on the Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Green Day. The band also shared the Lake Effect Kid EP and a 2019 greatest hits collection.
