Lil Nas X made a surprise – and stylish – appearance during the New York City Half Marathon that happened on Sunday (March 24).
The 24-year-old rapper notably took part in the race wearing a pair of Coach high-top sneakers. Some may call it fashion over function, but for the "MONTERO" vocalist, it's all part of the job: he became an ambassador for the brand back in 2022.

Lil Nas X could be seen smiling as he jogged through the streets of the Big Apple in photos from the event, which started in Brooklyn and ended in Central Park. According to Page Six, the rapper tried to find a pair of running shoes before competing in the race, but the store was closed, leaving him to wear the trendy Coach style. The label's distressed high-top style is no longer available on Coach.com, but the style is on sale for $162.25 on Amazon.
Coach introduced Lil Nas X as a brand ambassador in October 2022 with the debut of its short film titled "Courage to be Real." In addition to the in-line C202 makeups, the artist also designed his own colorway of the high-top shoe, featuring graphics on the upper inspired by '90s underground rave posters.
The United Half is one of the most popular half marathons in New York and this year's race featured a record-setting 27,000 runners. According to the New York Road Runners, Lil Nas X finished the race in 2 hours and 32 minutes. NBC New York managed to get candid footage of the rapper after the race, and he could be seen snapping selfies with fans. Other famous participants in the race this year included Amy Robach, T.J. Holmes, and Ginger Zee.
As for other Lil Nas X news, the "Old Town Road" star made his comeback to music in January with the single "J Christ."
