Patti Smith to Perform Virtual Show Featuring Music & Book Excerpts

Patti Smith is prepping for a special show that will be broadcast digitally on Sept. 4.

The performance will be filmed by cinematographer Matthew Schroeder at the Murmrr Theatre in Brooklyn. In addition to performing songs with her long-time bandmate Tony Shanahan, Smith will read some excerpts from her 2019 memoir Year of the Monkey.

The event, which is ticketed, is to be Smith’s only staged performance of 2020. Tickets will cost $30 each and come with a paperback copy of Year of the Monkey. Tickets are set to go on sale on Friday, Aug. 7 at 11am ET on the Murmrr website.

Patti Smith’s virtual concert will air on Sept. 4 at 9pm ET.
