Our 3rd Annual That Christmas Channel Holiday Song Tournament ended today (New Year's Day), so here's the quick rundown on the results and highlights of the tournament!
Firstly, the winner of the tournament and the song that has officially been named Greatest Holiday Song of All Time is...
"White Christmas" by Bing Crosby
This makes "White Christmas" our first-ever Holiday Song Tournament two-time champion! "White Christmas" was also crowned the winning song of our 1st Annual Holiday Song Tournament.
This year, we started out with 32 best of the best holiday songs: Live365's 2019 Tournament Top 8, Live365's 2018 Tournament Top 8, Top 8 from Billboard's Holiday 100, and That Christmas Channel's Top 8. Over the last month, we narrowed it down to "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby and "A Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives. Ultimately, "White Christmas" took the lead right out of the gate and stayed strong throughout the entire Championship round. This was a big change from last year's tournament, where "White Christmas" was knocked out in the first round!
Aside from our two-time champion news, the biggest news from the tournament is that last year's winner "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams were tied at the end of the second round. To determine the winner, we looked to the Standings table and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" was determined our winner as it stood at +46 while "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" stood at +27, meaning "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" had received 19 more "for" votes throughout the tournament so far.
As for other surprises in the tournament, "A Holly Jolly Christmas" made it to the Championship round, and it had never made it to the Top 8 in prior Live365 Holiday Song Tournaments. Additionally, despite "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey topping the Billboard Holiday 100 chart for 45 weeks, the holiday staple has not managed to break through to the top of any of Live365's Holiday Song Tournaments thus far.
All in all, the top 8 songs in order of most votes are as follows:

- Christmas Vacation - Mavis Staples

- Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - Darlene Love
