Megan Thee Stallion Partners with Popeyes to Create New Locations, Hot Sauce, & Merch

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is teaming up with chicken restaurant Popeyes for an expansive deal that includes her own Popeyes restaurants, a new hot sauce dubbed Megan Thee Stallion Hottie Sauce, and co-branded merchandise.

The merch drop includes bikinis, shirts, hats, tumblers, and Popeyes chicken tenders plush dog toys. Additionally, Megan and Popeyes will be making a six-figure donation to Houston Random Acts of Kindness. It's a charity “whose mission is to promote empathy and compassion while encouraging selfless concern for the welfare of others in the Houston community.”

The Megan Thee Stallion Hottie Sauce (and other merch) will be available in the U.S. and 14 other countries on October 19. The sauce in particular will be available to add to Popeyes' original chicken sandwich or as a standalone dipping sauce.

The hot sauce - crafted in collaboration between Megan Thee Stallion and the Popeyes culinary team - is described as “a sweet, yet bold flavor with a hint of spice, inspired by Megan’s sassy personality.” The sauce is made with honey, cider vinegar, and Aleppo pepper.

Fans can visit TheeHottieSauce.com to sign up to get the latest updates as well as to purchase merch once it drops. Anyone who enrolls in the Popeyes Rewards program before Monday (Oct. 18) will receive exclusive information and early access to the limited-edition drop. Two other merch collections are expected to go on sale in November.

The locations of Megan Thee Stallion's new restaurants have yet to be revealed, but it's anticipated that her hometown of Houston will be involved. Compared to the celebrity fast food deals that have grown popular recently, Megan Thee Stallion's Popeyes partnership seems to be the most involved and long term given its franchisee aspect.

As for other musician fast food collaborations, McDonald's recruited the likes of Travis Scott, J Balvin, and BTS for promotional work this year, Burger King has struck deals with Nelly, Anitta, and Lil Huddy, while Taco Bell named Lil Nas X its honorary “chief impact officer” in a campaign tied to the release of the singer's first full-length studio album, Montero.

“I’m appreciative of Popeyes commitment to empowering Black women and look forward to opening Popeyes Restaurants,” said Megan Thee Stallion in a statement. “Teaming up with Popeyes is such a milestone in my journey and evolution as an entrepreneur. I’ve always been a fan of the Popeyes brand and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join the brand and help create the new Megan Thee Stallion Hottie Sauce for their line-up.”

Last but not least, Megan and Popeyes have created a goofy new video teaser to promote their Hottie Sauce.
