Nicki Minaj’s new album, Pink Friday 2, has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It's her third chart-topping album — after Pink Friday and Roman Reloaded — racking up 228,000 equivalent album units. Thus, Nicki Minaj is now the female rapper with the most #1 albums in history.
Minaj was previously tied with Foxy Brown for the title, as they both had two chart-toppers. The release of Pink Friday 2 also marks the biggest sales week for any album dropped by a female rapper so far in the 2020s.

Part of the reason for Pink Friday 2's success? It has some notable names besides Minaj on it. The album features contributions from Drake, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Future, Finneas, Murda Beatz, and more.
The record also includes the catchy lead singles “Super Freaky Girl,” “Red Ruby da Sleeze,” and “Last Time I Saw You.” Of those singles, "Super Freaky Girl" has been the most commercially successful, hitting #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 2022. Its placement on the chart helped Minaj become the first solo female rapper to debut atop the Billboard Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill. (She did it with "Doo Wop (That Thing)" in 1998.)
As for other Nicki Minaj news, the rap queen has already released a deluxe version of the new album. It's titled Pink Friday 2 (Gag City Deluxe). Additionally, Minaj is set to go on a world tour in 2024.
