Next Dance Radio is a 24/7 commercial-free dance music station streaming live from Downtown Los Angeles. Founded by veteran DJ and former A\&R/promotions executive Robert Kechter, the station is built on decades of passion, experience, and dedication to electronic music culture. With roots deep in the booth and on the frontlines of the dance floor, Robert created Next Dance Music to champion the sounds he’s lived – blending classic house with forward-thinking anthems. Known for his talent in discovering defining tracks and seamlessly fusing genres, Kechter curates immersive, emotional musical journeys that resonate with both longtime fans and new listeners alike. Los Angeles has long been a heartbeat of dance music – from being a launchpad for rave culture to hosting iconic artists and events. Yet since the loss of Groove Radio in 1998 – pioneered by Swedish Egil—the city has lacked a dedicated dance music radio presence. In 2020, during the global pandemic, Kechter shifted his focus and entered the world of streaming radio. His programming quickly gained recognition for its depth, style, and authenticity. By 2024, he launched Next Dance Radio to bring dance music radio back to L.A.—not as nostalgia, but as a future-forward tastemaking platform for the city and beyond.
