DJ Jazzy Jeff to Host Fresh Prince-Themed Virtual 'Break the Monotony Block Party'

DJ Jazzy Jeff is hosting a virtual “Break the Monotony Block Party” on Saturday, May 9 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The live event, which is named after Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s “Summertime,” will feature “the music, style, and community of The Fresh Prince.” Throughout the day, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ D-Nice, Just Blaze, DJ Clark Kent, Bryan-Michael Cox, Neil Armstrong, Crespo, Dede Lovelace, Four Color Zack, and more will spin.

In addition to the virtual block party, there is a new line of Fresh Prince merchandise being released to commemorate the show's anniversary. A portion of merch sales will be donated to No Kid Hungry, which has been providing meals to children impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s humbling to see how The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and our music has transcended time and continued to shape pop culture,” said DJ Jazzy Jeff. “Between this new collection and the block party, I hope we can come together during these trying times, celebrate culture, put smiles on people’s faces and raise money for an important cause.”

The virtual “Break the Monotony Block Party” will take place this Saturday, May 9, from 12pm ET to midnight on DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Instagram.
