Power couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged! “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the superstar musician and professional football player wrote in their joint Instagram post. (A nod to Swift's song "So High School.")
The photos show a swoony Swift and Kelce surrounded by pink, white, and red flowers, as well as tree foliage. According to E! News, Kelce "knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring" in a romantic garden setting. He co-designed the engagement ring with jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. Forbes estimates the band is worth around $550K.

Swift and Kelce’s love story began in 2023, when he tried to meet her at The Eras Tour stop in Kansas City with the hope of giving her a friendship bracelet that included his phone number. Though the attempt didn’t pan out, Kelce later shared the story on his New Heights podcast - and word eventually made its way back to Swift.
“It was such a wild romantic gesture to be just like, ‘I wanna date you,’ like on [the podcast],” Swift recalled during her own recent appearance on New Heights. “Like at first, when I looked at it, I was just like, ‘This dude didn’t get a meet and greet. He’s making it everyone’s problem.’ That’s what I thought at first.”
However, Swift added, “if this guy isn’t crazy - which is a big if - this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to have happen to me since I was a teenager.”
They began dating soon after, with Swift becoming a regular presence at Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games. She was even around when the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.
Kelce, meanwhile, attended at least 13 Eras Tour shows - including stops in Buenos Aires, Sydney, Singapore, Paris, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, and Gelsenkirchen. He also joined her on stage during the last night of the London shows in summer 2024, and was present for the final two concerts of the U.S. leg in Indianapolis (November 2024).
Before coupling with Kelce, Swift’s longest relationship was with the actor Joe Alwyn, whom she dated for a long six years. Unlike with Kelce, their relationship was fairly private, and it is unknown if he ever proposed. She briefly dated numerous notable figures - including Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston, and Matthew Healy - but had never been engaged.
Similarly, Kelce had his own unique struggles with love before Swift. He was the star of a 2016 reality show called Catching Kelce that was designed for him to find a partner. (Maya Benberry won the show, but her relationship with Kelce did not last very long.) He also dated the social media influencer Kayla Nicole for a number of years, before breaking up in 2022. Like Swift, Kelce has not previously been engaged to be married.
Recently, Swift joined Kelce on his New Heights podcast to discuss her next album, The Life of a Showgirl. She also talked about acquiring back all of her master recordings, and wrapping up the Eras Tour. While no one is sure yet when Swift and Kelce will tie the knot, they certainly have a busy few months ahead. Swift's twelfth studio album will drop on October 3rd, while week one of the NFL season is set to get underway early next month - with the Chiefs facing off against the Los Angeles Chargers.
