Acerca

SWHYPE 97 plays hip hop and R&B, and every song starts with a real listen from our team. If it’s good, we play it. You won’t hear us call anyone “independent.” The industry turned that word into a label that tells artists they’re second tier, like they’re only waiting on a deal to be real. We don’t see it that way. Some of the hardest bars, smoothest voices and realest stories out right now come from artists without a major behind them, and plenty of them are outdoing what’s on mainstream radio. On SWHYPE 97, we let the artists’ music speak for them. We dig through new releases and artist submissions every week to find voices the world needs to hear: rappers with something to say and singers who make you stop what you’re doing. Every pick goes into rotation, onto the People’s Chart, and into the running for our monthly Top 5. The station is built for the culture. That means music with heart, real stories, and room for faith, hope and a little peace in the mix. Tune in and hear it for yourself. SWHYPE 97. A BLXCK LABEL station.
