Elton John Announces New Album 'The Lockdown Sessions'

After months of collaborating with other musicians, Elton John is ready to focus on his own work again. The legendary artist has announced a new album titled The Lockdown Sessions, which will compile 16 collaborations John has made over the past 18 months.

Many of the tracks on The Lockdown Sessions have been previously shared, including “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” (with Dua Lipa), “Chosen Family” (with Rina Sawayama), and “The Pink Phantom” (with Gorillaz and 6LACK).

The Lockdown Sessions will also include previously released cover songs, like Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” and Pet Shop Boys’ “It’s a Sin” (with Years & Years).

Additionally, John's project will feature “One of Me,” which Lil Nas X just revealed will be included on his highly-anticipated album Montero. That record will be out September 17.

Unreleased tracks on The Lockdown Sessions will include “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” (with the late Glen Campbell) and “Always Love You,” a song with Nicki Minaj and John’s “High” collaborator Young Thug. Elsewhere on the album, fans will hear Stevie Wonder, Charlie Puth, Brandi Carlile, and more, from sessions done either remotely or with strict COVID-19 safety protocols.

In other Elton John news, the musician is set to resume his lengthy farewell tour in January after the pandemic put a halt to live music. He'll be releasing The Lockdown Sessions before he resumes that tour: October 22, to be precise. You can pre-order the record on Elton John's website for a chance to win a virtual meet and greet with him.
