Boygenius and Timothée Chalamet Play Troye Sivan Sleep Demons in 'SNL' Sketch

Last weekend was a big one for SNL! On Saturday (November 11) Timothée Chalamet returned as a host for the sketch comedy show while Boygenius (Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus) appeared as musical guests. Perhaps the most notable sketch of the night featured all four of them: a skit in which SNL cast member Sarah Sherman experiences hallucinations of Troye Sivan as he appears in the “Got Me Started” music video.

Boygenius and Timothée Chalamet appeared as four versions of Sivan, complete with "tiny little red undies" and funky choreography. The skit made fun of the fact Sivan is starting to creep his way into mainstream pop culture – especially now that the Australian singer has appeared on HBO's The Idol and has released his third hit studio album, Something to Give Each Other.

The most hilarious part about the sketch? Troye Sivan is actually embracing SNL's sleep demon interpretation of him! Sivan changed his profile picture on Instagram to a screenshot of Chalamet dressed up as him. He also shared a video clip of Chalamet's dance. “WHY IS LIFE SO WEIRDDDDD RN LMAO IM DEAD,” he added.

It was Chalamet’s second time hosting the show. In his latest monologue, he sang “Pure Imagination” (and plugged his new movie Wonka before pivoting to a rap about having a babyface). He also reprised his “Tiny Horse” bit and his performance as the rapper SmokeCheddaDaAssGetta.

On their SNL debut, Boygenius performed two songs from their Grammy-nominated album The Record: “Not Strong Enough” and “Satanist.” It was Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus’ first time on the show. Phoebe Bridgers first appeared on the show in 2021, alongside host Dan Levy. Boygenius and Sivan both just got nominated for Grammys.
