Green Day Release Music Video for New Song 'Dilemma'

Green Day has dropped the third preview of their new album Saviors. This time, it's a fresh song called "Dilemma." The brash, boozy single also comes with a new music video, directed by Ryan Baxley.

The visual starts in black and white and ends in color. Similar to the theme of the song, the video shows Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong drinking heavily at a show. In real life, Armstrong has actually struggled with alcohol abuse. He infamously made a scene at the iHeartRadio festival in 2012, later going into rehab to learn to control his alcohol dependency. He was sober for many years, but revealed to iHeartRadio in 2020 he is no longer sober and has learned to be more independent.

“‘Dilemma’ was one of those songs that was kind of easy to write because it was so personal to me,” Armstrong said in a press release. “We’ve seen so many of our peers struggle with addiction and mental illness. This song is all about the pain that comes from those experiences.”

“Dilemma” follows Green Day’s Saviors singles “The American Dream Is Killing Me” and “Look Ma, No Brains!” The upcoming album, which follows 2020’s Father of All…, is out January 19. Beginning in May 2024, Green Day will go on a huge tour in support of Saviors. You can find tickets for it here.
