Hear a Preview of Phoebe Bridgers' New Song 'Sidelines' in Hulu's 'Conversations With Friends' Trailer
Phoebe Bridgers is unveiling her first new original song since she released Punisher and her Copycat Killer EP in 2020. The new single is called "Sidelines" and part of it can be heard in a trailer for Hulu's upcoming TV show Conversations With Friends.
The show is a serial adaptation of Sally Rooney’s novel of the same name. It follows Frances (Alison Oliver), a 21 year old college student, as she navigates a series of relationships that force her to confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time. The show also stars Joe Alwyn, Sasha Lane, and Jemima Kirke, and will arrive on Hulu May 15.
Bridgers' song can be heard all throughout the trailer. "I'm not afraid of anything at all," Bridgers sings during the first half of the visual. Parts of other lyrics can be heard as the video continues. According to the trailer's description on YouTube, "Sidelines" is an original song created just for the new series. It will be officially released tomorrow, April 15.
Despite not releasing any original music since 2020, Bridgers has been keeping very busy. Most recently, she released an acoustic version of Punisher’s “Chinese Satellite” for Secretly Canadian’s 25th anniversary, and announced a monthly radio show on SiriusXM. After performing at Coachella this weekend, Bridgers will tour North America and Europe through the end of August.
