Kelly Clarkson Duets with Heart's Ann Wilson for Special Kellyoke Performance

Kelly Clarkson is treating her audience members of The Kelly Clarkson Show to more Kellyokes, this time opening the floor to special guests. On Monday’s episode (May 16), Clarkson opened her show with a duet with Heart's Ann Wilson.

The two powerhouse singers performed “Almost Paradise,” the Heart singer’s 1984 single for the Footloose soundtrack. Clarkson took the part originally sung by Mike Reno of Loverboy. “I thought that dreams belonged to other men/ ‘Cause each time I got close, they’d fall apart again,” Clarkson belted. Wilson responded, “I feared my heart would beat in secrecy/ I faced the nights alone/ Oh, how could I have known/ That all my life I only needed you?”

Back in its day, "Almost Paradise" received the same chart glory as songs like "Footloose" and “Let’s Hear It For the Boy” due to the success of the film it came from. It eventually peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 13 weeks in the top 40.

After the two music stars duetted, Clarkson sat down with Wilson for an interview, where they chatted about Heart music and the experience of being women in the music industry. Wilson also performed later in the show, singing “Love of My Life” from her new solo album Fierce Bliss.

In other Kelly Clarkson news, her new show American Song Contest just wrapped up its first season. Clarkson is a host on the show, which pits musicians from all 50 states, five territories, and Washington D.C. against each other in a Eurovision-esque song competition.
