Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2021 Inductees: Tina Turner, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters Honored

This year's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees have been announced. After their first year of eligibility, Jay-Z and Foo Fighters have been inducted. Other inductees include Tina Turner, the Go-Go’s, Todd Rundgren, and Carole King.

This year marks the second induction of Dave Grohl after he was previously honored by the Hall of Fame for being a part of Nirvana. It is also the second induction for Tina Turner (previously with Ike Turner) and Carole King (previously with Gerry Goffin).

This year's induction ceremony is a standout one for female artists. Turner, King, and Stevie Nicks are now the only women to be inducted into the Hall of Fame multiple times. This is also the first year three women have been inducted in the "performers" category.

“This is the most diverse class of inductees in the history of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, told Pitchfork.

Besides the "performers" category, Clarence Avant will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award while LL Cool J, Billy Preston, and Randy Rhoads will receive awards for Musical Excellence. Kraftwerk, Gil Scott-Heron, and Charley Patton are recipients of this year's Early Influence Award.

The 36th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 8pm ET. It will be recorded at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The induction ceremony will air on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max at a later date.
