SZA Teases Upcoming Sophomore Album with Cover Unveil
The follow-up album to Ctrl is due to arrive this month, and SZA is getting fans excited for the release. The R&B singer has just shared the official cover artwork for her second studio album S.O.S.
The record is set to be released this month, but a release date has not been confirmed. To tease the LP, SZA took to social media to post the upcoming record’s cover, which sees her sporting an S.O.S.-branded St. Louis Blues hockey jersey while sitting on a springboard over the ocean. The aforementioned sports team even responded to the nod on Twitter, replying, "SZA szn."
SZA officially announced the project last month. She said she was “currently stressed” over the impending deadline for the project and elaborated on the “red tape” that comes with its release. “I could literally burst into tears and run through this wall at any moment,” she wrote. “I am effectively falling apart.”
The singer also discussed the delays that have surrounded S.O.S., citing her grandmother’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, her touring schedule, and COVID-19 as reasons for postponements.
SZA shared the single "Shirt" back in October, before posting a “PSA” teaser video last month. Earlier this year, she revealed she had written 100 songs for her new album. It comes after her latest release: the deluxe version to Ctrl.
SZA will serve as the musical guest on tomorrow night’s episode (December 3) of Saturday Night Live, with Nope actress Keke Palmer on hosting duties. Earlier this year, she won the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award with Doja Cat for "Kiss Me More" at the Grammys.
